I was given a little dress with ladybugs in a garden a couple of years ago, as a present for our baby daughter. The dress was size 2T, so since then I knew that I was going to prepare a ladybug birthday party for our little one when she turned 2.
So… I started with the invitations. I wanted to do something a bit different from what I saw on the internet and to keep the garden atmosphere.
So, this is what I came up with:
After that I started coming up with more and more ideas… you can see it all here.
A little ladybug can give you so much fun… and can take over your house too!
Last month was my father in law’s birthday and I decided to do a 60s/pop art poster for him as a gift.
The 60s was a decade of lots of fun for him so I wanted to design something that could bring him good memories and at the same time to highlight the good in the present. So I included his family (his wife, kids and their spouses) in the design. So past and present time all together
My husband’s family call themselves “La Familia” (it means The Family in Spanish) so that suits me very well
For the design I picked this photo of him where he is looking very 60s and various pictures of the family from now.
And this is the final poster. Hope you like it.
I wanted to spice up our family photo wall in our living room.
I have had a vision of a family tree since we hung the picture frames.
So, here is what I thought to do.
But unfortunately it will have to wait until we get a place of our own since we are renting and this kind of wallpaper would be damaged when we would remove the vinyl.
So, this candle holder will have to do for now.
It was my brother in law’s birthday a couple of days ago.
We decided to give him some money for a trip to Malta that the whole family is planning to do in October this year. Since it was money that we were giving him in an envelope, I thought it could be nice to do a b-day card for him also instead of just buying one. I think it makes it nicer, much more personal and… I enjoy doing arts and crafts a lot.
With just color paper, and adhesive pads to make it look 3D so it is not like those flat common cards, this was the end result.
I hope you like it!
After my baby girl falls asleep, my day is not over yet. I clean up the baby chair and table, put back her books and prepare her bag for the following day so she is ready to go to the kindergarten. What takes most of the time is to pick up all the toys that are scattered all over the place. I pretty much have to put the entire place back in order.
I have only one daughter, Nioma, and she manages to turn the house upside down when it comes to playing. If you are a parent, I am not telling you anything new.
Most of the time she gets bored very fast with her toys and she starts playing with our stuff.
Last night she was playing with bowls and clothes and of course her toys were spread all over the floor. I usually sit next to her and play with her since she will hang on my legs and complain if I start doing other things.
Yesterday, while I was watching her play I got an image in my mind of a design using the things that she was playing with. So after I put her to sleep, I started to play around with what she had left on the floor.
And this is what I came up with:
At the end of the day it is always “A Toy Story” for mommy.
I’m excited. This is my first blog.
I used to post blogs every week at my last job, reviewing the content and then uploading it among other tasks, but I never wrote one myself. I was behind the scenes (which I enjoyed a lot) but now I’ve decided to be on stage.
It doesn’t hurt to give it a try, right?
Sorry, there is no try, you do or you don’t (a phrase that my former boss taught me).
My posts will be mostly about design (things that I am working on or I come across), brief and straight to the point. I’m not a fan of writing long letters when it is not necessary.
This blog is about sharing, educating and entertaining.
I hope you enjoy reading it.
